Hello! My name is Christina Howarter (HOW-art-er). I was one of those kids who never stopped drawing, and became interested in a career in design at a young age. I grew up on the central coast, and when I couldn’t find enough art classes in highschool, I started working and studying under my local college’s design director. After growing up on the central coast in California, I moved to Long Beach, CA for college and earned my bachelor’s degree through CSULB’s rigorous arts program.
I have enjoyed freelancing for local businesses, sharing my craft and elevating branding materials for clients. Recently, I worked in San Luis Obispo’s biggest tech company Mindbody as a visual production designer for their custom app and UX department. With a focus on health and wellness, I translated and updated existing branding for clients all over the world into personalized branded apps for scheduling and booking services (anything from yoga, cross fit, salons, and massages to goat yoga and flower healing—I’ve seen it all now!). I managed several clients while communicating to designers and developers in multiple departments, plus ideating and documenting positive change to our software, usability, and marketing. I got involved in giving internal employees a peek into the world of design, mentoring other designers from the Scotland office, and furthered my design knowledge with design for the web Smashing Conference in San Francisco.
Outside of the design office? I go hiking with my dog Apollo, enjoy all the new action hero movies, and spend time with friends playing videogames or dungeons and dragons.
